RNGIM looks to address the maintenance and renewals backlog, lift the codes, standards and maintenance practices to meet the demands of a modern metropolitan system. The project is designed to accelerate outstanding capital projects and asset upgrades to help de-risk the network performance and improve resilience before the CRL is completed and operational, as the increased demand on the rail network will reduce access for infrastructure maintenance and renewal.
The programme also includes funding for Auckland Metro Remediation (AMR). This will include automating the monitoring and inspections of the network infrastructure, and assisting a shift from reactive to proactive maintenance strategies. The scale of the the RNGIM programme and enhancements to process and practice improvement included in RNIGM has seen a shift in perspective, these traditional renewal works are instead being managed as an improvement project.
CB Civil is involved with ballast excavation and the upgrade of the formation and drainage works on track sections across the Tamaki Makaurau network including the Eastern line, NAL South line, Wiri to Pukekohe and NAL Western line. Because we work in a live corridor the project revolves around access windows and a lot of planning goes into when, where and how we carry out the work. Our teams selflessly work weekends and public holidays to meet the needs of the network, while the trains and public take a day off our team works hard to ensure that Aucklanders and commercial freight get where they need to go!
