The Kahika branch sewer rising main, serving the area for over 50 years, faced a series of significant failures from 2017 onwards, impacting local infrastructure and communities. Watercare prioritised its replacement under the asset renewal program, appointing CB Civil for this urgent work.

The project involves:

  • Constructing a new 1.9 km wastewater pipeline.
  • Diverting four local catchments away from the existing wastewater pipe.
  • Decommissioning sections of the old line.

Upon completion, this upgrade will reduce wastewater overflows into Kaipatiki Creek and enhance maintenance access in case of future failures. Recently, the team installed a 2 km main along Kaipatiki Road, overcoming flood damage with a stormwater pipe replacement and a retaining wall for Auckland Council. The mainline passed its pressure test on March 21st.
