Congratulations to Area Manager Liam McCord for winning Emerging Leader Award at CCNZ BOP Hynds Construction Awards 2023!
We are pleased to announce that Liam McCord, our Tauranga Area Manager, has been honoured with the Emerging Leader award at the recent CCNZ BOP Hynds Construction Awards 2023. A Tauranga native with deep familial ties to the plumbing and drainage sector, Liam's journey into the world of construction and engineering is a testament to his unwavering dedication and passion for the field.
Liam's career path has been marked by a series of significant milestones. After finishing his first-class honours degree in Mechanical Engineering, Liam has undertaken diverse roles, spanning contractor, designer, and client-side management positions across New Zealand and Australia. His professional journey includes notable projects such as the Victoria Park Tunnel and various water treatment plants.
However, it was Liam's return to his home region that marked a turning point. Within a short span, he achieved remarkable success, being promoted to the role of BOP Area Manager. Under his leadership, the CB Civil BOP region has seen tremendous growth, with the team expanding from just three members in 2022 to around 40 staff, delivering outstanding projects for local authorities and private clients.
Liam's achievements extend beyond the professional realm. He successfully established an organic G3 kiwifruit orchard from scratch and ventured into machinery hire, contributing to the growth of various projects. Most importantly, he takes immense pride in his role as a father, witnessing the growth of his two young sons.
Liam McCord's dedication to the civil infrastructure industry, his leadership qualities, and his commitment to nurturing the next generation of engineers make him an exemplary Emerging Leader. His long-term goals include growing the Tauranga team, focusing on mentoring young talent and contributing to the community that he loves to serve. His passion for learning and dedication to leadership further set the stage for a promising future. Liam's inspiring journey from a young Tauranga native to an Emerging Leader in the region exemplifies the power of dedication, hard work, and a genuine love for one's craft.
