Greg Wichman

National Operations Manager

Proven leader, collaborator, project deliverer. The wide range of qualities, experience, learning and successes that Greg brings to CB Civil through his impressive 30 year career in the industry. Greg is a specialist in delivering customer-first outcomes through creating One Team partnerships, and he brings a detailed understanding of your operational requirements and the risks of working in a live operational environment. A provider of clarity and certainty in projects, inspiring his teams through being a staunch advocate of accountability and performance ownership, his strengths lie in his ability to bring client, contractor and project stakeholders into cohesive and collaborative One Team units. For example, when working on Watercare’s $144M Mangere BNR Upgrade, Greg moulded together a new multi-disciplinary project team out of JV partners, client and engineer to form a partnership with a core focus on ‘together doing it better’. He then applied this ethos to identify and treat key risks through monthly joint client/JV/consultant risk reviews. Under the Enterprise Model he will apply lessons from Mangere BNR, particularly relating to safety through proven risk management processes. These saw Watercare win the Excellence in developing capability in Risk Management Award at the Risk NZ Awards of Excellence 2016, and the project won the Best Public Works Project >NZ$5M award at the 2018 IPWEA NZ Annual Excellence Awards. Greg has also undertaken project governance and management roles on high profile projects in high pressure environments including the $1.2B Stronger Christchurch Infrastructure Rebuild (SCIRT). On all of his projects, Greg champions a Zero Harm approach. His projects have won many safety awards, including the NZCF Merit Award for safety in 2008 and 2009 for results on the Rosedale WWTP Ocean Outfall project, the 2010 Overall Award For Safety And Environmental Excellence in the $10M + category for the Rosedale Ocean Outfall project and the 2007 NZCF Merit Award for Mercer Long Swamp.
